Reach of Pakistan Textile Exports recorded history in December

During December 2020, textile exports increased by 22.72 percent to a historic high of $1.401 billion, compared to $1.14 billion in the corresponding month of last year, according to recent data released on Friday by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.

On a month-on-month basis, the country’s exports increased by 9.20pc during the month.

On a cumulative basis, textile exports rose in July-December by 7.79pc to $7.442bn, compared to $6.904bn in the same period last year, the data showed.

Knitwear was included in the textile commodities that contributed to positive trade growth, exports of which increased to $ 1.849 billion during 1HFY21 compared to $ 1.586 billion last years. Similarly, exports of bedwear increased by 16.38pc to $ 1.394bn; exports of towels increased by 17.47pc to $ 445.709 million.

Tent, canvas and tarpulin exports increased by 57.77pc to $62.477m; ready-made apparel increased by 5.54pc to $1.490bn; sculpture, silk and synthetic textiles increased by 0.17pc to $167.502m; 17.46pc to $379.229m made-up article.

Meanwhile, raw cotton was included in exports of commodities that experienced negative inflation, decreasing by 96.14pc to $0.592m while cotton yarn decreased by 26.36pc to $400.730m.

Moreover, cotton cloth exports also declined by 7.73pc to $935.009m and yarn (other than cotton yarn) decreased by 7.28pc to $13.464m.
