Redmi to introduce its First Gaming Smartphone Powered by MediaTek Dimensity 1200

Redmi may launch its first gaming smartphone that, according to a tipster, could be the Xiaomi sub-brand’s handset to use the newly released MediaTek Dimensity 1200 SoC. The news comes as several OEMs have announced they will be launching phones powered by the new SoC, including Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo and Realme.

Redmi will be releasing the first MediaTek Dimensity 1200 SoC enabled gaming smartphone. The tipster did not dig out any further information about the phone, such as the name.

The news builds on a previous development in which Redmi General Manager Lu Weibing suggested that the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 SoC, which is based on a 6nm architecture, will power the Redmi K30 Extreme successor.

The news follows a recent development in which the company will soon discontinue the Redmi K30 Extreme smartphone and launch a successor Redmi smartphone with the newly unveiled SoC, Redmi General Manager Lu Weibing suggested. He did not, however, assign the handset any name, but reports say it could be Redmi K40.
