Rs.1580 Million Announced by the Ministry of IT for Networking Project in Gilgit

According to a tweet from the Ministry of IT & Telecom’s official Twitter account, the ministry’s special communication organization aims to invest Rs. 1580 million in Gilgit to improve networking infrastructure. Sazain to Rae Kot and Chalas are all within a 100-kilometer radius of where construction work will take place.

The ambitious project aims to serve a population of about 300,000 people, including staff at the Diamer-Bhasha dam site and residents in the surrounding areas. The networking initiative, according to the IT ministry, would provide residents with better and faster internet and mobile communication.

The project is expected to generate $300 million in revenue by adding 80,000 new internet and smartphone users.

The latest initiative is part of a five-year development plan for Gilgit Baltistan, which includes infrastructure, agriculture, tourism, health, education, higher education, electricity, gems, and precious stones development.

The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has resulted in significant regional growth. Further steps are being taken to support the grand project’s goals as progress on the CPEC-related project progresses.
