Rs 6 million Lahore-Gujranwala motorway project to boost local industrial zones

A major trading representative stated on Sunday that the motorway project Lahore-Gujranwala, costing Rs6 billion, is going to play an important role in the growth of local industries.

In an exclusive interview, President of the Gujranwala Chamber of Commerce and Industrial Affairs (GCCI), Umar Ashraf Mughal, told the APP that the Lahore-Gujranwala Autobahnen not only links the local industrial region to the rest of the industrial cities in the country with roads and other roads but also provides transport facilities for the local public.

He said it was going to connect the two largest industrial centres in the country, Gujranwala and Sialkot, with the local industrial units benefitting each other. The project is carried out on the basis that the Gujranwala Chamber of Industry and Commerce (GCCI) also supplied funding, while the Government has also offered assistance for land procurement. The project is being implemented on a public-private partnership model.

“Gujranwala has enormous potential for indigenous lightweight and heavy equipment that ‘we may employ to enhance domestic exportation.’
