At the auction for the 2023 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), there were three purchases that broke all previous records for pricing.
Both the English all-rounder Sam Curran and the Australian all-rounder Cameron Green were acquired by the Punjab Kings and the Mumbai Indians for a total of Rs 18.50 crore (PKR 50 Crore), and Rs 17.50 crore respectively. Sam Curran has broken the record for the most money ever paid for a player in an Indian Premier League auction.
On the other side, Chennai Super Kings for Rs 16.25 crore, purchased Ben Stokes, the captain of the England Test team, an amount that tied him with Chris Morris as the record holder for the previous highest purchase price.
