Saudi Arabia Issues Warning for Heavy Rains and Flash Floods

The General Directorate of Civil Defense in Saudi Arabia has issued a safety alert, urging people to exercise caution during thunderstorms expected from Wednesday to Sunday. Authorities are advising the public to avoid visiting valleys, low-lying areas, and regions prone to flooding, as these could become dangerous during heavy rains.

In particular, Makkah is expected to experience heavy rainfall, along with possible hailstorms. Meanwhile, the regions of Baha, Asir, and Jazan are also likely to see moderate to heavy rainfall during this period. Other areas, such as the Eastern Province and Madinah, may encounter lighter rain.

The Civil Defense has stressed the importance of following the safety instructions and guidelines shared through various media channels to ensure public safety. They are urging residents to stay informed about weather conditions and take necessary precautions to avoid risks.

According to the National Center for Meteorology, the autumn season typically brings rain, providing relief from the intense heat that Saudi Arabia experiences during the summer months. The current weather forecast aligns with these seasonal patterns, but the authorities are keen to remind people to remain vigilant and prioritize safety, especially during thunderstorms.
