Saudi Arabia’s Asyad Group has shown strong interest in Pakistan’s airport privatisation plans. The group’s CEO, Ghassan Ahmed Amodi, met Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb in Islamabad to discuss the opportunity.
Amodi said Asyad Group wants to take part in the upcoming process to outsource major airports. The company is gathering Saudi and international partners who have the right technical skills for this work. The group already has investments in Pakistan and sees the country as an important long-term market.
Pakistan plans to hand over the operations and land assets of three big airports, Jinnah International in Karachi, Islamabad International, and Allama Iqbal International in Lahore, to private operators. The aim is to improve passenger services, modernise facilities, increase revenue and bring in foreign investment through public-private partnerships.
The meeting also covered the expansion of Wafi Energy Pakistan, which is linked to Asyad Group. Finance Minister Aurangzeb welcomed the interest and said Pakistan is looking for serious, long-term investors as part of its wider privatisation drive.
