Saudi to Build World’s Only Stadium with Retractable Roof, Pitch, LED Wall Atop 200m-High Cliff

Qiddiya Investment Company (QIC) in Saudi Arabia has unveiled the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium, a cutting-edge venue situated in Qiddiya City, just 40 minutes from Riyadh. Positioned on top of the 200m-high Tuwaiq cliff, this futuristic stadium is designed to host major sports, entertainment, and cultural events.

What sets the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium apart is its status as the world’s first fully integrated venue, featuring a unique combination of a retractable roof, pitch, and LED wall.

This architectural innovation provides unparalleled versatility, allowing the space to swiftly transform into different “event modes” within hours. The LED wall serves as a dynamic portal to live event broadcasts, high-definition films, and mesmerizing laser shows, promising visitors a one-of-a-kind and immersive experience.

Beyond its functional aspects, the stadium’s design seeks to revolutionize the traditional stadium experience by offering breathtaking views of Qiddiya City when the LED wall is not in use.

Abdullah bin Nasser Aldawood, QIC’s Managing Director, envisions the venue as a global destination for entertainment, sports, and culture, embodying the essence of Qiddiya’s Power of Play philosophy.

The stadium is anticipated to draw visitors from around the world and become a landmark destination for major events.
