Science Minister Says Ventilators Made in Pakistan Are Not Useful

Senator Shibli Faraz, Federal Minister for Science and Technology, has claimed that Pakistan’s locally built ventilators are malfunctioning and can only perform 4 out of 16 functions.

The minister spoke to the media after a visit to the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), saying that despite the fact that the NRTC and private firms manufacture ventilators, Pakistani ventilators only perform four out of sixteen functions.

He noted that Pakistan lacks oxygen and the required supplies for the Coronavirus pandemic, and that emergency activation of the oxygen plant at the Steel Mills is problematic, but that if it is activated, it will be beneficial to the country.

He also addressed India’s deteriorating coronavirus situation, stating that Pakistan would assist India in its battle against the virus. “This is a humanitarian problem, and we sympathize completely with India,” he added.
