Pakistan fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi believes that if he hadn’t sustained a knee injury during the T20 World Cup final last year, Pakistan could have won the title. In the final, Pakistan set England a target of 138 runs.
However, Afridi injured his knee while taking a catch in the 13th over of England’s innings. Although he returned to bowl in the 16th over, he quickly realized he couldn’t continue. Despite Afridi’s contribution of taking a wicket and conceding only 13 runs in his limited overs, England successfully chased down the target with six balls remaining and five wickets in hand.
Afridi expressed that winning a World Cup for his country is every player’s dream, and if he hadn’t been injured at that crucial moment, Pakistan might have won the tournament. He acknowledged that injuries can happen at any time and that dwelling too much on such games prevents him from moving forward.
