Sindh Bans Objectional Material In O-Level Syllabus

The Sindh Education Department, led by Additional Director Rafia Javed, issued a notice to Minister for Education Rana Tanveer Hussain regarding the removal of the objectionable chapter titled “Same-Sex Family” from the sociology O-level book.

He further notified Cambridge about the recent incident and warned them to avoid including such topics in the syllabus issued for the Pakistani education system.

Additionally, the chapter on “History and Culture of Pakistan” in the Pakistan Studies book at O level has also been reported for a ban.

Such topics are totally against the Islamic and cultural values upheld by Pakistani society. Being an Islamic republic state, such topics are considered taboo, and people even don’t talk about them. Though Pakistani is getting modernized with generational gaps, openly discussing topics based on the LGBTQ concept is strongly condemned and prohibited.

Our modernizing thoughts do not allow us to forget our religious values.

What are your thoughts on this decision made by the Sindh government? Was it right?
