Sindh Govt Announces 3 Eid-ul-Azha Holidays

The government of Sindh has changed its Eid ul Azha 2026 holiday schedule, reducing the previously announced four-day break to three days.

According to a new notification issued by the Chief Secretary, public holidays in the province will now be observed from May 26 to May 28.

The revised holiday schedule will apply to government offices, autonomous institutions, and local councils across Sindh. However, essential services will continue operating during the Eid period.

The sudden change has attracted public attention because many people had already planned travel, family visits, or other activities during the longer holiday break. Some citizens may need to adjust their plans following the updated announcement.

Authorities said the change was made to support smooth administrative operations and ensure government functions continue effectively after the Eid holidays.

Holiday schedules during major festivals often affect transportation, tourism, and business activities, especially when people travel between cities to celebrate with relatives.

The revised notification is expected to impact employees in the public sector who were preparing for an extended break. Officials have not indicated additional changes and stated that departments should follow the updated schedule.

Eid ul Azha is one of the major religious occasions in Pakistan, and public holidays are usually observed to allow people time for prayers, family gatherings, and religious activities.

Changes in official holiday announcements can sometimes create inconvenience for citizens who arrange travel or leave plans in advance. Despite the reduction in holidays, essential departments are expected to remain active to maintain important public services throughout the Eid period.
