Solar Systems Prices Jump by Up to Rs. 200,000 Before Budget

Solar system prices across Pakistan have witnessed a sharp increase just days before the announcement of the federal budget, creating uncertainty among consumers planning to switch to renewable energy. The most significant rise has been observed in on-grid solar systems ranging from 5kW to 15kW, with market prices climbing rapidly amid concerns over potential changes to government policies and taxation measures related to the solar sector.

According to market estimates, the cost of a 5kW on-grid solar system has risen to approximately Rs. 650,000, while a 7kW setup now costs around Rs. 825,000. Prices of larger systems, including 10kW, 12kW, and 15kW installations, have also increased substantially, with some systems becoming up to Rs.

200,000 more expensive than they were just a few weeks ago. Industry experts believe the surge is being driven by strong demand and budget-related uncertainty, prompting many buyers to make purchases before any new policies come into effect. Meanwhile, off-grid solar solutions remain even costlier due to the additional expense of battery storage, adding further pressure on households and businesses looking to reduce their dependence on conventional electricity sources.
