Pakistani students seeking higher education opportunities overseas can now explore a fully funded scholarship programme that offers a pathway to postgraduate studies in the United Kingdom. The Commonwealth Scholarship Programme 2027–28 has announced opportunities for eligible applicants from Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJ&K) to pursue Master’s and PhD degrees at UK universities.
The initiative aims to make quality international education accessible to talented individuals who may not have the financial resources to study abroad. Through this programme, successful candidates will have the opportunity to advance their academic qualifications while gaining international exposure and experience.
The scholarships are administered by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC), while Pakistan’s Higher Education Commission (HEC) is responsible for the national nomination process. Applicants must complete the required procedures through both organisations to be considered for the programme.
HEC to Oversee Pakistan's Nomination Process
The Higher Education Commission will assess applications and nominate candidates based on its eligibility requirements and merit policy. According to HEC, applicants' merit positions will primarily be determined through their Higher Education Aptitude Test (HAT) scores.
If two or more candidates achieve the same HAT score, their academic percentage in the most recently completed degree will be used to determine their ranking. However, applicants should remain aware that the applicable selection criteria may be subject to change.
HEC has also highlighted the importance of women's participation in the scholarship programme, setting a minimum female nomination ratio of 45%.
Final Selection Rests with Commonwealth Commission
Candidates should understand that receiving a nomination from HEC does not automatically mean they have secured a scholarship. The final decision regarding successful applicants will be made by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission after its selection process.
Applicants must also ensure that all required online applications are completed and submitted successfully before the closing date. Since online platforms may experience increased traffic as the deadline approaches, candidates are advised to avoid waiting until the last moment.
HEC has clarified that applicants do not need to submit printed application documents or hard copies unless the commission specifically asks them to do so.
How to Apply
Interested Pakistani and AJ&K nationals can review the eligibility requirements, application instructions and relevant updates through the official HEC website.
Applications should be completed through the designated online platforms within the announced application timeline.
