Slovakia has opened applications for its Scholarships for Talented Students programme for the 2025–26 academic year, offering international students the opportunity to pursue higher education with financial support of up to €15,000. The initiative is backed by the Ministry of Education, Research, Development and Youth of the Slovak Republic in cooperation with the European Union and aims to attract outstanding students from around the world.
The scholarship is available for full-time bachelor’s, combined bachelor’s and master’s, and master’s degree programmes at recognised higher education institutions across Slovakia. Students selected under the programme can receive €5,000 per academic year, with funding provided for up to three years for bachelor’s programmes and two years for master’s programmes.
Eligibility Criteria and Benefits
The programme is open to applicants of all nationalities, provided they are not Slovak citizens residing in Slovakia and meet the eligibility requirements. Applicants must have completed the required level of previous education, commit to full-time on-campus studies, and generally have no prior study or long-term residence in Slovakia. Selection is strongly based on academic merit, with applicants holding an SAT score of at least 1,100 considered eligible for evaluation.
In addition to financial assistance, successful candidates may receive public health insurance coverage, access to internationally recognised degrees, research opportunities, and eligibility to participate in Erasmus and other academic exchange programmes. The scholarship also supports studies in selected fields aligned with Slovakia’s national development priorities while offering students affordable living costs and enhanced career prospects after graduation.
Application Process
Interested candidates are required to complete an online application by creating an account, filling in personal information, and uploading all required documents. These include a passport or national identity card, curriculum vitae (CV), motivation letter, SAT score certificate, and other declarations specified in the application guidelines. Applicants under the age of 18 must also provide consent from a legal guardian.
The application deadline for the 2025–26 scholarship programme is July 31, 2025. Authorities have encouraged eligible students worldwide to submit their applications before the closing date to take advantage of the opportunity to study in Slovakia with substantial financial support.
