The Hunan Government, in collaboration with the China Scholarship Council (CSC), has officially announced the China Link Scholarships 2027, offering fully funded academic and research opportunities for international students, researchers, and university faculty members. The initiative aims to strengthen educational cooperation between China and other countries while promoting academic exchange and cultural understanding.
The scholarship program allows international participants to study, conduct research, or engage in academic collaboration at Chinese universities for periods ranging from one month to one year. Officials said the initiative is designed to provide global students and scholars with access to China’s growing research environment and higher education institutions.
Fully Funded Financial Support
Selected candidates will receive comprehensive financial assistance throughout the duration of their stay in China. The scholarship package includes full tuition fee coverage, free accommodation on campus, medical insurance, and monthly living stipends.
According to program details, general scholars will receive a monthly allowance of 3,000 Chinese Yuan, while senior scholars and academic researchers will receive 3,500 Chinese Yuan per month. Authorities stated that the funding is intended to reduce financial barriers and encourage greater international participation in Chinese academic programs.
Eligibility Requirements for Applicants
The scholarship is open to non-Chinese citizens who are in good physical and mental health. Undergraduate students, postgraduate students, PhD candidates, researchers, and university teaching staff from foreign institutions are eligible to apply.
Applicants applying under the general scholar category must usually be under the age of 45, while senior scholars are generally required to be under 50 years old. Candidates must also secure an invitation letter or admission approval from a participating Chinese university before submitting their scholarship application.
Academic Fields and Research Opportunities
The China Link Scholarship supports a wide variety of academic disciplines and research areas. Students and researchers from fields such as engineering, artificial intelligence, computer science, medicine, environmental sciences, agriculture, business, and social sciences are encouraged to apply.
Officials noted that the program offers participants the opportunity to work with advanced laboratories, experienced faculty members, and international research teams across Chinese universities. Depending on the selected institution and course, studies may be conducted in either English or Chinese language.
Application Procedure
Applicants are required to first identify a host university in China and contact a supervisor or department for academic approval. Once they receive an invitation or acceptance letter, candidates can complete their applications through the Chinese Government Scholarship Information System.
Chinese universities will then review applications and forward nominations to the China Scholarship Council for final approval. Authorities advised applicants to complete the process well before deadlines to avoid delays in documentation and visa procedures.
Growing International Interest
The scholarship program has attracted growing attention among international students seeking short-term research opportunities and international academic exposure. Education experts believe the initiative is particularly beneficial for students who want overseas academic experience without committing to a full degree program abroad.
Officials also highlighted that the program reflects China’s broader efforts to expand global educational partnerships and strengthen international collaboration in science, technology, and higher education sectors.
