Suzuki Begins Production of Flying Cars

Suzuki Motor Corporation and SkyDrive Inc. have joined hands to produce flying cars at a Suzuki-owned facility in Iwata City, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan.

These flying cars, also known as eVTOLs, are electric and self-driving, aiming to change how people travel in cities. The collaboration began in June 2023 and involves making the SkyDrive (SD-05 type) model through SkyDrive’s subsidiary Sky Works Inc.

An eVTOL, which stands for electric vertical take-off and landing flying car, looks like a small drone with three seats and works like a helicopter. It can take off and land vertically and has features like Autopilot for autonomous operation. These flying cars are expected to become “Air Taxis” in the future, offering a solution to traffic congestion in cities.

As cities face more and more traffic jams, people are looking for new ways to get around. Air taxis could be a great solution, letting people travel between cities quickly and avoiding traffic on the ground.
