Suzuki Launched Compact SUV in India, Cheaper Than Pakistani Alto

Maruti Suzuki, a popular car manufacturer in India, recently introduced its latest compact crossover SUV, the Suzuki Fronx, in the country. The new vehicle, which is based on the Baleno platform, comes with a starting price of INR 7.47 lacs (PKR 25 lacs).

It made its debut at the Indian Auto Expo in January 2023, and the company had already begun accepting bookings with a down payment of INR 11,000.

The new Suzuki Fronx is available in six different variants, with the highest-end model priced at INR 13.14 lacs (PKR 45 lacs). What’s noteworthy is that the base variant of the Fronx is less expensive than all variants of the Pakistani Suzuki Alto, except for the base model.

The main reason for this price difference is that India manufactures cars while Pakistani car companies merely assemble them.

This means that India can produce every component of the car locally, while Pakistani car companies still need to import primary components.

Suzuki Fronx boasts a range of impressive specs and features. The vehicle is available in six distinct colors, including Arctic White, Earthen Brown, Opulent Red, Splendid Silver, Bluish Black, Celestial Blue, and Grandeur Grey.

Customers can also choose from dual-tone options, such as Earthen Brown, Opulent Red, and Splendid Silver.

Under the hood, the compact crossover SUV is powered by a 1000cc Boosterjet turbo-petrol engine, which produces 100 horsepower and 147Nm of torque. This engine is mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission, complete with paddle shifters for greater control.

In terms of exterior design, the Fronx takes inspiration from Maruti Suzuki’s flagship SUV, the Grand Vitara, with an upright nose and split headlamps.

The vehicle also features chunky front and rear bumpers with faux skid plates and chrome accents, along with multi-spoke 17-inch alloy wheels. The rising waistline and sloping roofline are reminiscent of the Baleno hatchback.

Moving inside, drivers will appreciate the 9-inch infotainment touchscreen and black and brown upholstery. The dashboard is multi-layered, featuring physical controls for the HVAC system.

The top-of-the-line variant includes luxurious features such as a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a 360-degree camera, wireless charging, six airbags, and a heads-up display.
