Talha, a weightlifter, has qualified for the Olympics

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has informed that local weightlifter Talha Talib has been awarded an invitation slot in the -67kgs category for the next Tokyo Olympics after accepting a request from the Pakistan Olympic Association (POA).

“In partnership with the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF), the Olympic Games Tripartite Commission has finalised the Invitation Places, and Talha Talib has secured an invitation spot in -67kg Weightlifting for the Tokyo Olympics. He will be competing in the Olympic Games for the first time as a representative of Pakistan. Talha has won medals for Pakistan at the Commonwealth Games (bronze), the South Asian Games (gold), and the International Solidarity Weigh­tlifting Championship (gold), according to a press statement issued by the Pakistan Olympic Association on Friday.

With Talha’s entrance, Pakistan will be represented at the Tokyo Games in athletics, badminton, judo, shooting, and swimming from July 23 to August 8.
