Teenage Pilot ‘Zara Rutherford’ Become Youngest Women to Fly around the Globe Solo

Zara Rutherford, a teen pilot, has become the world’s youngest woman to fly solo around the globe.

The 19-year-old Belgian-British pilot has etched her name into history after flying more than 32,000 kilometres over five continents in five months.

While her jet was grounded for weeks due to terrible weather and a visa wait in Mexico and Alaska, she managed to avoid weather emergencies.

Zara’s family, media, and friends gathered to greet her as she arrived in Kortrijk-Wevelgem, Belgium.

In the footage, four planes from the Belgian Red Devils aerobatic display team joined the new world record-holder teen on her landing.

The youthful aviator not only broke the record set by American Shaesta Waiz, who was 30 at the time she flew around the world in 2017, but she also became the first woman to fly around the world in a microlight aircraft. She’s also the first Belgian woman to fly solo around the globe.
