Pakistan is experiencing temporary additional load-shedding during peak nighttime hours after a shortage of Re-Gasified Liquefied Natural Gas (RLNG) affected electricity generation, according to the Power Division.
The non-availability of an RLNG cargo has reportedly resulted in a reduction of around 3,600 megawatts in power generation during the night peak period.
The shortfall has added further pressure to an already challenging electricity situation, with consumers facing longer or more frequent power outages at a time when demand typically rises.
The Government has apologized to consumers and described the additional load management as temporary, but the announcement has triggered strong public frustration.
Many consumers have expressed anger over continued disruptions, particularly as power shortages can affect households, businesses, students and essential daily activities.
Authorities are expected to work toward restoring normal electricity generation once the RLNG supply issue is resolved.
However, the latest disruption has renewed concerns among consumers about the reliability of the country’s power supply and the need for more effective measures to prevent similar shortages in the future.
