A five-second launch in Tesla’s planned Roadster comes with a much longer reported refill time: two to six hours for its cold-gas thruster tank. According to a post reported by Fossbytes, Tesla aims to shorten that wait to less than half an hour.
A shorter refill remains the goal
The system is described as using a 200-litre nitrogen tank. The reported two-to-six-hour refill window is the current figure; the sub-half-hour turnaround is a target, not an improvement already achieved.
What the $10,000 figure covers
Equipment able to reach the tank’s required pressure could cost as much as $10,000, according to the post. That figure refers to the equipment, rather than a stated charge for each nitrogen refill.
Production of the Roadster is planned for 2028. The reported details leave the current refill time and Tesla’s intended reduction as separate figures ahead of that planned production date.
