Thatta Cement plans move into affordable EVs with imports from China
Thatta Cement plans to enter the EV business through a wholly owned subsidiary, initially importing vehicles from China. It will target affordable, compact models, with local assembly a possible later step.

Thatta Cement Company Limited (PSX: THCCL) has approved an investment in a wholly owned subsidiary to enter Pakistan’s electric-vehicle business. The plan, announced on Thursday, 5 November 2026, starts with imports of completely built-up vehicles from China, meaning vehicles imported fully assembled.
The company intends to offer affordable, compact and small electric vehicles to Pakistan’s largely underserved mass market. Its board also approved the financial statements for the year ended June 30, 2026.
A move beyond cement
The planned investment suggests a move beyond Thatta Cement’s conventional cement business into a different line of business. A wholly owned subsidiary would keep the new business under the company’s ownership, while its initial focus would be importing finished vehicles rather than assembling them locally.
Local assembly and other related activities remain possibilities for the future, rather than the starting point. In plain terms, the announced approach is to enter the market with imported vehicles aimed at buyers seeking affordable, smaller models.
The filing also says the named majority shareholders waived their dividend rights, leaving minority shareholders with an entitlement while excluding those holders. No dividend will be paid to Sky Pak Holding (Private) Limited, Al-Miftah Holding (Private) Limited, Golden Globe Holding (Private) Limited and Rising Star Holding.
