For years, 5G in Pakistan was a “coming soon” story. That story is over. Since the spectrum auction on March 10, 2026, operators have switched on more than 1,200 5G sites, and by August around 1.3 million users across 23 cities were already on the network. PTA’s latest benchmarking puts average 5G download speeds at about 128 Mbps, nearly seven times the 4G average of 19 Mbps.
Pakistan now has the networks. What it needs is a phone that deserves them. And right on cue, a name the country’s phone fans never forgot is making its return: the POVA is coming back, led by the POVA Curve 2 5G.
A 5G badge is not a 5G experience
Any phone can print “5G” on the box. What decides the experience is everything behind it. A fast network does little for a phone that slows down under load, heats up, or runs out of battery by the afternoon.
5G is still filling in, with phones spending under 4% of their time on it in the second quarter, so your next phone has to be ready for tomorrow’s network. That is why the processor matters more than the badge, and why it sits at the heart of the POVA Curve 2 5G’s Beauty and Beast theme. The 5G processor is the Beast’s brain, built to keep the phone fast and smooth through gaming, streaming, video calls and heavy multitasking as networks expand. Beside it sits a massive battery, so power and stamina never have to fight each other.
Where the POVA Curve 2 5G fits: a Beauty and a Beast
In a crowded 5G field, the phones that stand out will be the ones with more than one strong point. A phone that is all connectivity but forgettable to look at, or all style with thin staying power, is a hard sell for people who plan to keep their phone for years.
The POVA Curve 2 5G is aimed squarely at that gap. The Beauty is a slim, curved design that TECNO positions as the slimmest in its segment, made to stand out in a hand, on a table and in a sea of look-alike 5G phones. The Beast is the 5G processor and massive battery underneath, built to keep going when the day gets demanding. Whether it delivers on both is a question only the launch can answer, but few phones in this space are even trying.
The price question
Price is the first thing every buyer asks about, and TECNO hasn’t confirmed it yet. Estimates put the POVA Curve 2 5G at around PKR 110,000 to 120,000. At that level, buyers are choosing a phone to rely on for years, which leaves little room for compromise on looks, battery or performance, and the launch details will be scrutinised closely.
What comes next?
The POVA Curve 2 5G launches in Pakistan on October 15. Specifications, final pricing and everything else are being held back until then, which turns the next few days into a guessing game for POVA fans. The countdown is on.
