The National Incubation Center, is conducting a 5-day Entrepreneurship Growth and Fundraising Readiness Program for women entrepreneurs. The event is scheduled to be held from 15th-19th February,2021. The event aims to empower women entrepreneurs with the art of fundraising so they can gain access to better investment opportunities.
Globally, only 1 in 3 small, medium and large businesses are owned by women. Particularly in Pakistan, women entrepreneurship is at a nascent stage, with only 1percent of women engaged in entrepreneurial activities, as opposed to 21 percent men. 2020 was a promising year for Pakistani startups, with 50 startups raising prominent investments; however only three of these were solely led by women.
The 5-day bootcamp aims to inculcate the necessary skills required by women entrepreneurs to master the art of fundraising. The training is based on content designed by Invest2Innovate and Village Capital, and is a part of the World Bank Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative (We-fi) Program in Pakistan. Participants of the training will gain key insights into the Pakistani Startup Ecosystem and trends in the investment space.
They will learn how to build a financial narrative for their startup from scratch, and understand the investment process in detail. Renowned female entrepreneurs who have raised funding for their startups will talk to the audience about the challenges they faced in raising investments and how they countered them during their journey.
Experts will train participants on the key components of the fundraising process including understanding legal structures and term sheets, determining market size, learning the art of pitching for investment, and getting introduced to early-stage valuations. Founders will learn the art of understanding an investor’s mindset, and how to attract the right investor for their startup. The bootcamp will conclude with a pitching clinic whereby participants will get a chance to polish their pitching skills to perfection.
