The SKMT Karachi is scheduled to open in December of 2022 says Imran Khan

The building of the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Trust Hospital (SKMT) in Karachi is on schedule, according to Prime Minister Imran Khan, and the facility is expected to open in December next year.

“This will be twice as big as the Lahore SKMT and will be equipped with state-of-the-art technology,” Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif announced on Twitter, alongside photos of the hospital construction site.

On April 28, it was stated that SKMT had become a model institution, delivering high-quality care to all patients regardless of their socioeconomic situation.

Since the establishment of the first Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, it has spent approximately Rs53 billion for the treatment of deserving cancer patients. At the SKMT’s treatment facilities, over 75% of cancer patients receive therapy completely free of charge.

Pakistan’s largest cancer hospital, currently under construction in Karachi, and a new clinical tower, the hospital’s largest expansion in Lahore, are two prominent recent developments. The SKMT’s yearly budget for 2021 is Rs19 billion, with over half of that projected to come in the form of Zakat and contributions.
