Thousands of Railway Officers Haven’t Received Their Pensions for Past 3 Years

Thousands of retired officers and employees of Pakistan Railways are facing severe financial hardship as they have not received their pensions and retirement benefits for the past three years.

According to reports, the total pending liabilities have now crossed Rs. 21 billion. This amount includes unpaid gratuity, benevolent funds, group insurance, and other assistance packages for retired workers. Most of the affected employees retired after March 2023 and are still waiting for their due payments.

Many retired railway workers say they are struggling to manage daily expenses, medical bills, and family needs without their hard-earned pension money. The long delay has caused serious financial and mental stress for them and their families.

The issue has sparked strong criticism as Pakistan Railways has repeatedly claimed improvement in its financial performance. Retired employees argue that pension payments are a basic right and should be cleared on time.

Despite several appeals and protests, the problem remains unresolved. Affected pensioners are now demanding immediate action from the federal government and Pakistan Railways management to release their pending dues.
