TikTok Removes 113 Million Videos to Protect Minors on the Platform

It is a social media platform for creating, sharing, and discovering short videos. The app is used by young people as an outlet to express themselves through singing, dancing, comedy, and lip-syncing, and allows users to create videos and share them across a community.

TikTok made revelations that it removed the bulk of videos that violated the guidelines set by TikTok. It is estimated that around 113 million videos have been removed between April and June, it represents that only 1 % of total videos have been uploaded.

The Major reason behind the removal of videos was that it violated TikTok’s policies and guidelines that were set by them. 15,351,388 videos were taken down from Pakistan with a proactive removal rate of 98.7 percent, 97.4 percent for removals before 24 hours, and 97.3 percent for takedowns before any views.

TikTok was banned four times in Pakistan. TikTok has more than 1 Billion Global users.

Pakistan ranks second for the largest volume of videos taken down by TikTok. The United States of America topped the list with nearly 18 million videos removed.
