Tired of Airport Delays? Govt to Introduce Single-Point Checking System at Airports

The Government of Pakistan has approved the introduction of a single-point security checking system at airports in order to reduce passenger waiting times, improve efficiency, and make the overall travel experience smoother and more convenient.

A high-level meeting held in Islamabad was chaired by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, where senior officials from relevant departments reviewed the proposed reforms in detail. During the meeting, authorities approved in principle the deployment of modern screening technologies, the establishment of joint passenger counters, and stronger coordination between all security and aviation-related agencies to ensure better management of airport operations.

Under the new system, passengers will be able to complete the main security screening process through a single checkpoint instead of passing through multiple layers of checks. This streamlined approach is expected to significantly reduce congestion at airports, minimize delays, and help manage passenger flow more efficiently, especially during peak travel hours.

Officials also reviewed the progress of installing e-gates at major airports, which are designed to automate parts of the immigration and boarding process. These systems will allow faster verification of passenger identities and reduce the need for manual checks, further speeding up clearance procedures.

Alongside improving convenience, the initiative is also focused on strengthening overall airport security. Authorities noted that better coordination and advanced screening tools will enhance monitoring capabilities and help address concerns related to illegal migration and unauthorized travel more effectively.

Overall, the initiative is part of a broader effort to modernize airport infrastructure in Pakistan, bringing operations in line with international standards. The goal is to ensure faster processing, improved security management, and a more comfortable and efficient experience for both domestic and international travelers.
