Tourism Alone Can Produce Significant Revenue to Help Reduce the Country’s External Deficit: PM Imran Khan

On Friday, Prime Minister Imran Khan emphasized the importance of wealth building projects in Pakistan in order to pay off foreign debt and save money for education.

Prime Minister Khan said the Ravi City and Bundal Island projects in Lahore would contribute to wealth formation while speaking at a ceremony in Malakand. The construction industry’s projects, as well as the construction of two dams after 50 years, would also lead to wealth formation, he said.

He said that for the first time in Pakistan, the government is constructing houses for low-income citizens.

According to the prime minister, tourism alone will generate significant revenue and help to reduce the external deficit. “Over the last two years, Swat has seen an unprecedented influx of visitors. People in Pakistan would not have to fly abroad [in search of greener pastures] if tourism increases. Tourism produces $20 billion in Malaysia and $40 billion in Turkey, according to the prime minister.
