Lake Saif-ul-Malook, one of the most famous tourist spots in northern Pakistan, is set to welcome visitors again as the 2026 tourism season begins. The lake is located in the Kaghan Valley and sits at a high altitude of around 10,577 feet.
Lake Saif-ul-Malook remains closed for nearly six months every year because heavy snowfall and glaciers block access roads. During winter, the area becomes unsafe for travel, so authorities shut it down for safety reasons.
Now, preparations are underway to reopen the site. The Kaghan Development Authority has started clearing the 14 km road from Naran using heavy machinery. Officials report that around 6 km of the road has already been restored, while work is still continuing on the remaining stretch.
Along with this, road repair work on the Babusar Top route is also in progress to improve access for tourists. Once the roads are fully cleared, travel to the lake will become easier and safer for both local and international visitors.
Naran and nearby areas are expected to see a rise in tourist activity as the season opens. Local businesses, hotels, and transport services are also preparing for increased demand.
Authorities say the reopening of Saif-ul-Malook marks the official start of the northern tourism season in 2026. The lake is known for its clear water, mountain views, and natural beauty, making it one of the most visited destinations in Pakistan.
