Transgender Students to Get Rs. 10,000 Monthly Stipend in Lahore

The Lahore Education Authority is taking a progressive step by offering a monthly stipend of Rs10,000 to transgender individuals attending government schools. The Government Girls High School in Garden Town is the first to benefit from this initiative.

The stipend includes Rs5,000 as a monthly allowance and an extra Rs5,000 for transportation, with the condition of maintaining an 80 percent attendance. The District Education Officer, Nayyar Iqbal, emphasized their commitment to expanding such support based on demand.

For a year now, classes for transgender students at the Garden Town school have been providing free education, textbooks, and meals, highlighting a comprehensive and inclusive approach to education.
