Turkey Looking Forward to Manufacture Fighter Jets and Missiles With Pakistan: Report

Turkey is willing to manufacture missiles and warplanes with Pakistan, with the collaboration likely to give Turkey access to Chinese military technology as well.

As per a Bloomberg report, Turkish defense and government officials met with Pakistani counterparts to discuss the possibility of jointly designing and producing military hardware.

People from both countries have confirmed the progress, with the most recent meeting taking place in January, according to Bloomberg. They didn’t say how close the two countries are to reaching an agreement or when another meeting will take place.

Pakistan and China are working together to develop the JF-17 Thunder fighter jet. This means that as Turkey collaborates on defense programs with Pakistan, it will have access to Chinese military technology.

Pakistan’s Shaheen ballistic missiles are also said to be based on Chinese designs. On the condition of anonymity, Turkish officials familiar with the matter told Bloomberg that Ankara sees Islamabad as a strategic ally and a possible partner in developing its Siper long-range missile defense system and TF-X fighter jets.
