Unregistered vehicles not allowed on motorway.

According to IG National Highways and Motorway Inam Ghani, unregistered vehicles would no longer be allowed to pass on highways.

In a tweet, the officer cited Section 18 NHSO 2000, which stated: “Vehicles that haven’t been registered aren’t allowed to be driven. A person may not drive a motor vehicle, nor may the owner cause a vehicle to be driven, unless it is registered.”

He went on to say that the licence number plates must be displayed on the vehicle in the way required by law. “And if no licence number plates are given, the registration mark is displayed on the motor vehicle in the prescribed manner,” he added.

The announcement comes only days after the NHMP announced that no automobile without an M-Tag will be allowed on highways starting December 7th, 2021.

The police responded in compliance with a judgement of the Lahore High Court (LHC). The decision was made, however, to reduce the long lines of cars at toll plazas, according to the authority. It will also help to reduce traffic congestion-related air pollution.
