The United States has released a new $1 coin featuring President Donald Trump as part of the country’s 250th anniversary celebrations.
The U.S. Mint began selling the coin on September 2, 2026. It was issued to mark 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. The coin has a gold-like finish and shows Trump’s portrait on the front, along with the words “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and the dates “1776 ~ 2026.”
The reverse side carries an image based on the presidential seal, with “250” shown on the shield. The design was created by U.S. Mint Chief Engraver Joseph Menna using a photograph by White House photographer Daniel Torok.
Although the coin has a face value of $1, the Mint is selling it in 25-coin rolls for $61 and 100-coin bags for $154.50. The release has also drawn attention because living presidents have generally not appeared on U.S. currency.
