Virat Kohli Crowned ICC ODI Cricketer of the Year 2023 for the Fourth Consecutive Time

The legendary Indian cricketer Virat Kohli has clinched the prestigious ICC Men’s ODI Cricketer of the Year award for his outstanding performance in the 2023 season. This recognition marks the fourth time Kohli has received this honor, highlighting his consistent dominance in the One Day International (ODI) format.

Throughout the 2023 season, Kohli showcased exceptional skills, particularly during the ODI matches and the World Cup hosted in India. His standout contributions played a crucial role in securing this accolade. Notably, Kohli emerged as the second-highest run-scorer in ODIs during the season, closely following his compatriot Shubman Gill.

The former Indian captain accumulated an impressive total of 1,377 runs in ODIs, demonstrating his remarkable batting prowess with six centuries and eight half-centuries. This outstanding performance not only significantly contributed to India’s success but also saw Kohli surpass the longstanding ODI centuries record held by the legendary Sachin Tendulkar.

The memorable 2023 season included Kohli leading India to the World Cup final and earning the Player of the Tournament award for his record-breaking 765 runs in 11 matches.

This latest award adds to Kohli’s illustrious collection, marking his seventh individual ICC honor and his fourth in the ODI category. His previous victories in the ODI category were in 2012, 2017, and 2018. Additionally, he secured the Test award in 2018, while 2017 and 2018 saw him clinch the prestigious Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year. Kohli’s consistent excellence continues to leave an indelible mark on the world of cricket.
