Waqar Zaka Announces A $5,000 Award For Arshad Nadeem If He Wins An Olympic Gold Medal

Following cricketer Shadab Khan’s commitment to Olympian Talha Talib, Waqar Zaka has pledged $5000 to Olympian Arshad Nadeem, who has qualified for the Javelin Throw final at the Tokyo Olympics 2020.

Waqar Zaka said on Twitter on Aug. 4 that if Nadeem wins a medal for Pakistan in the Tokyo 2020 Javelin Throw final on Aug. 7, he will receive an individual part of the prize money.

“If Arshad Nadeem wins gold, silver, or bronze in the Olympic 2020 javelin throw competition, I will personally donate 5000 USD to him,” Zaka tweeted, providing information regarding the competition’s date.

With his throw, Nadeem made history by being the first Pakistani athlete to qualify for an Olympic final in any track and field event.

Although Arshad isn’t a new name to many in Pakistan who follow the sport, for the majority of the people, he has emerged as an unlikely hero who is now their ultimate hope at the Olympics, where he sealed his spot with a record-breaking performance at the 2019 South Asian Video games in Kathmandu, Nepal.

Waqar Zaka is similarly convinced that the “90m mark is approaching.” Nadeem, born in Khanewal, reached the final of the men’s javelin throw with a throw of 85.16 metres.
