The National Disaster Management Authority has issued a countrywide alert, warning that unstable weather conditions are expected to impact several regions over the next 12 to 24 hours. According to the advisory, parts of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan may experience thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rainfall, strong winds, and the possibility of hailstorms.
Authorities have cautioned that these weather conditions could pose serious risks, particularly in vulnerable and mountainous areas. There is a heightened likelihood of damage to weak or poorly constructed buildings, parked vehicles, and exposed infrastructure such as solar panels. In addition, heavy downpours may trigger flash flooding in low-lying regions, while hilly areas could face landslides and the dangerous threat of glacial lake outburst floods.
Residents have been strongly advised to take precautionary measures and remain alert throughout the warning period. People are encouraged to avoid unnecessary travel, especially during severe weather, and to seek shelter in safe and secure locations. The NDMA has also urged citizens to stay updated through official channels and strictly follow safety guidelines issued by local authorities to minimize risks and ensure public safety.
