WhatsApp Testing Feature to Let Messages Disappear After 24 Hours

WhatsApp, a Facebook-owned instant messaging app, is checking whether messages can be deleted after 24 hours, according to WABetaInfo on Saturday.

On Twitter, WABetaInfo wrote, “WhatsApp is testing the ability to set messages to vanish after 24 hours.” WhatsApp notifications are closely monitored by the platform.

However, the post created confusion among users because WhatsApp already has a feature that deletes messages after seven days.

“To prevent misinformation, WhatsApp already supports disappearing messages after a few months: check out Contact/Group Data,” the platform tweeted.

It also stated that if a user selects the function of disappearing messages, it will be activated.

“WhatsApp is actually testing a different expiration now and this test is under progress,” WABetaInfo said of the latest update.
