When is the Next Public Holiday in UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar and Kuwait?

The recent celebration of the Islamic New Year in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and other Gulf countries means that the next national public holiday is not expected until at least September.

Bahrain will be the next country in the Middle East to have a public holiday. The Ashura holiday will provide residents with a four day weekend. It takes place from Friday, July 28, to Tuesday, August 1. Public offices will be closed during this period.

Following this, Saudi Arabia’s National Day will be celebrated on September 23. It commemorates the formation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Moreover, it involves cultural events, fireworks, and celebrations across the country. Since September 23 falls on a Saturday in 2023, workers may receive a corresponding day off to compensate for the weekend.

The next public holiday for the UAE, Kuwait, and Oman is the Prophet’s Birthday. It is observed on the 12th of Rabi’ al-Awwal in the Islamic calendar. In 2023, this holiday falls on Wednesday, September 27. However, the UAE has already announced that it will be observed on Friday, September 29, allowing for a three day weekend to celebrate this significant occasion.

Finally, Qatar’s National Day will be celebrated on December 18, an important holiday that marks the unification of Qatar. The nation will celebrate with various events and festivities.

As these upcoming public holidays approach, residents in these countries can look forward to spending time with loved ones, participating in cultural events, and enjoying well deserved rest and relaxation.
