Woman Writes Holy Quran With Gold on Silk Pages in 3 Years

The Holy Quran has been beautifully transcribed on transparent silk sheets by Azerbaijani artist Tünzale Memmedzade. This is the first Quran translation to be printed on silk pages. Beautiful gold and silver inks are used.

Memmedzade, a 33-year-old artist and Marmara University art student in Turkey finished the artwork over the course of three years using 1,500 milliliters of gold and silver inks and 164 feet of silk fabric.

The talented artist translated the Quran onto silk pages, each measuring 29 x 33 centimeters, using the official translation made available by the Turkish Presidency of Religious Affairs, or Diyanet.

Memmedzade reported that after doing more research, she discovered that the Quran had previously been inscribed on other materials, but never on silk. This realization served as her primary inspiration for the undertaking. She views the piece as her chef d’oeuvre and points out that since silk is a material mentioned in the Quran, it does not violate any religious laws.

Memmedzade thanked God for her three-year mission of compassion and expressed her pride at being the first person to attempt such a project.
