World’s One of the Oldest Universities, Al-Azhar University to Open Campus in Pakistan

Al-Azhar University, one of the oldest and most respected Islamic learning institutions, is set to open a campus in Pakistan. This step aims to strengthen the relationship between Pakistan and Egypt and promote education, especially for women.

The announcement came after a meeting between Federal Education Minister Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and Egypt’s Grand Mufti, Dr. Nazir Mohamed Ayad. The new campus will focus on advancing women’s education, fostering a deeper understanding of Islamic teachings, and encouraging the study of Arabic culture.

Dr. Ayad emphasized the importance of learning Arabic to truly understand Islam. He also highlighted Al-Azhar’s commitment to women’s education, noting that over 40% of its students are women. This reflects the university’s dedication to ensuring equal opportunities for female students.

The Pakistani government is also committed to promoting equal education for women. This collaboration with Al-Azhar University will support efforts to improve girls’ education, which is essential for building a progressive society grounded in Islamic values.

The establishment of Al-Azhar’s campus in Pakistan is seen as a significant step toward enhancing educational opportunities, particularly for women, while strengthening cultural and educational ties between the two nations. It also aligns with the broader goal of advancing knowledge and understanding in line with Islamic principles.
