Pakistan Asks Iran’s Help toSecure Passage of 2 LNG Cargoes Through Hormuz

Pakistan is actively engaging with Iran to facilitate the secure passage of two liquefied natural gas (LNG) shipments through the Strait of Hormuz, as regional tensions continue to raise concerns about energy supply routes. The cargoes, originating from Qatar, are currently positioned near the strategically critical waterway, awaiting clearance while diplomatic and technical discussions remain underway between Islamabad and Tehran.

Officials familiar with the matter indicated that ensuring uninterrupted transit has become a top priority, given the sensitivity of the route and its importance to global energy flows. Pakistan’s energy ministry has acknowledged that the country’s LNG reserves are running low, making the timely arrival of these shipments crucial to sustaining power generation and meeting growing domestic demand.

Authorities also pointed to previous disruptions in the strait as a reminder of the risks associated with relying heavily on imported fuel. In this context, they stressed the importance of continued regional coordination and stability to safeguard energy security and prevent potential shortages.
