Pakistanis Will Soon Have Option to Get Passports Delivered to Their Doorsteps

The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports (DGIP) is working on a new initiative aimed at making passport delivery more convenient for citizens across Pakistan. Officials revealed that talks are currently in progress with several courier companies to introduce a home delivery service for passports once the required agreements are finalized.

Under the proposed system, applicants who choose the optional service will be able to receive their passports directly at the address they provide during the application process by paying a small additional fee. The move is expected to save people from making extra visits to passport offices and reduce long queues at collection counters. Authorities believe the facility will greatly improve convenience, particularly for elderly citizens, working professionals, and people living far from passport centers.

The DGIP stated that the service is planned to be launched nationwide after all formal arrangements with courier partners are completed. Officials added that the initiative is part of wider reforms being introduced to modernize Pakistan’s passport system and enhance public service delivery through digital solutions and streamlined processes.

In the next phase, the department also intends to expand the passport delivery facility for overseas Pakistanis, allowing them to benefit from the same convenience while living abroad. Alongside this, authorities are preparing to introduce a dedicated chatbot system that will provide applicants with guidance, answer common queries, and help users track the status of their passports more efficiently.

Officials say these measures are designed to improve transparency, reduce delays, and create a more user-friendly experience for citizens seeking passport-related services across the country.
