Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has claimed that Karachi has seen more development since 2008 than at any other time in its history. He made these remarks while inaugurating the 39-kilometre Shahrah-e-Bhutto Expressway on May 22, 2026.
Speaking at the grand ceremony, Bilawal said that since the PPP came to power in Sindh in 2008, the party has completed many historic projects in Karachi. He highlighted that record infrastructure work has been carried out in the city, making it Pakistan’s fastest-growing urban centre.
Bilawal added that people from all over Pakistan come to Karachi in search of jobs and better opportunities. He encouraged more people to visit and contribute to the city’s economy. He also noted that the Pakistan Peoples Party has always focused on the development and welfare of Karachi.
The newly inaugurated Shahrah-e-Bhutto Expressway is a Rs40 billion project that connects Qayyumabad to the M-9 Motorway. It is expected to ease heavy traffic, reduce travel time, and boost economic activity in the city.
Bilawal said he has personally inaugurated many development projects since entering politics and promised to continue working for Karachi’s progress.
