Pakistan Test captain Babar Azam struggled with the bat on his return to domestic first class cricket, scoring 12 runs against Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) in the President’s Trophy Grade I.
Playing for Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), Babar faced 20 balls and hit two boundaries before pacer Arshad Iqbal dismissed him. KRL bowled OGDCL out for 217 in their first innings and enforced the follow on after making 398.
The match marked Babar’s first domestic first class appearance since December 2019, when he represented Central Punjab in the Quaid e Azam Trophy. He joined OGDCL as a guest player for the third round of the President’s Trophy.
Babar Azam was dismissed LBW (leg before wicket) by Faheem Ashraf after scoring 4 runs off 15 balls in the second innings.
Babar’s latest innings adds to a difficult period with the bat. During Pakistan’s recent Test series in England, he scored 8, 6, 7 and 76 in his four innings.
