Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has announced plans to improve Islamabad’s F-9 Park by adding coffee shops, a lake, better lighting and improved walking paths. He has also promised to plant thousands of new trees while protecting the park’s existing greenery.
In a statement shared on social media on Sunday, October 25, 2026, Naqvi said no trees would be cut and no new concrete structures would be built as part of the planned improvements. He said the aim was to make the park greener, safer and more enjoyable for families and other visitors.
The park, officially known as Fatima Jinnah Park, is one of Islamabad’s major public green spaces. The proposed changes follow concerns from residents and environmental activists about protecting its natural environment during development work.
Naqvi had earlier discussed upgrading the park along the lines of London’s Hyde Park. However, the government has not yet announced a project budget or a timeline for completing the planned improvements.
The proposal aims to improve recreational facilities while keeping the park’s green character intact.
