The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) was informed on Thursday that the total cost of installing Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) is expected to be Rs258 billion.
The Secretary ECP informed a high-level meeting of the ECP, which was led by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja. During and before the election process, the meeting was also briefed on the maintenance and setup of EVMs.
Meanwhile, three EVM committees have been constituted. The committee members provided a comprehensive overview of the buying, roadmap, and plan of action for the use of EVMs in the elections.
The report delivered by the committees was well received by the CEC. The panel urged the appropriate authorities to complete the purchase of EVMs in accordance with the legislation while keeping in mind the concerns of the public.
