The Indian government has ordered the blocking of 35 YouTube channels and two Pakistani websites, stating that they were spreading “anti-India propaganda.”
According to a statement issued by India’s Information and Broadcasting Ministry on Friday, the websites and channels had a total of 120 million members and were spreading “false news” against former Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat.
“The ministry’s restricted YouTube channels, websites, and other social media accounts were utilised by Pakistan to promote anti-India fake news about critical matters related to India,” it added.
According to the statement, these YouTube channels have also begun uploading content to undermine the democratic process of the upcoming elections in five states.
