On the request of the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication (MoITT), the Higher Education Commission (HEC) has decided to launch a 2 year IT skills programme in universities.
In order to meet the shortage of the IT workforce in Pakistan, the HEC came up with a decision to initiate a 2 year AD (Associate Degree) programme, as per sources.
After consulting the universities HEC has decided the syllabus for the AD program, sources confirmed.
HEC officials stated, “after completing all the homework, the matter has been sent to the Accreditation Council (AC) of the HEC. After the approval of the AC, the programme will be officially launched.”
Pakistan is experiencing a severe shortage of IT workers. Around 25,000 IT graduates passes per year where less than 50% meet industry requirements, Ministry officials.
